The Collecting Station for Radioactive Wastes is the central contact point, among other things, for researchers, doctors of nuclear medicine or industrial producers from Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt who need to dispose of radioactive wastes. It accepts radioactive wastes from those who are obliged to deliver radioactive wastes to the Collecting Station in pursuance of paragraph 4, Section 76 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance.

The delivered substances must neither contain nuclear fuels nor wastes containing nuclear fuels and must have originated in Saxony, Thuringia or Saxony-Anhalt. The acceptance of the wastes is laid down by contract and is based on the rules and regulations governing the use of the Collecting Station.
