One of the major tasks of VKTA is the decommissioning of nuclear installations and buildings of the former Rossendorf Central Institute for Nuclear Research. It is its objective to remove these installations and to store the radioactive materials safely. Nuclear fuels are concentrated in the Rossendorf "Facility for Fissile Material Management" (EKR) and are ready for transportation to a central interim storage. Radioactive wastes are kept in an interim storage at Rossendorf until a suitable repository is available.

VKTA experts are widely experienced in the planning, organisation and the carrying out of the decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear installations. They have profound knowledge of nuclear engineering, the operation and monitoring of nuclear installations, radiation protection and process engineering. Another emphasis is the proper preparation and implementation of licensing procedures under the Atomic Energy Act.
We have dealt with the following projects:
  Reactors
  Production facilities

Waste storage facilities

  Fissile material management
